SKY HIGH. Oops, Thirdy Ravena did it again to FEU.
With the matchup between Ateneo de Manila University and Far Eastern University all but over, Thirdy Ravena was still putting on a show on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Blue Eagles were up, 90-80, inside the last three minutes and Anton Asistio attempted a three from Steph Curry range.

The shot hit the back of the rim and ricocheted to the area where Ravena was.
Sprinting from behind the arc and into the paint, the third-year forward put his hops to good use and made good on a high-flying putback.
Asked about it post-game, he answered, “It was just a lucky bounce. Those things don’t really happen often, pero I was just lucky enough to be there when it was there.”
The highlight was reminiscent of another high-flying putback he had a season ago.
The team he did it to then? Again, the Tamaraws.
Still, Ravena made it clear that he is just doing what his coaches told him to. “Coach just told me to go for the offensive rebound and that’s what I did. That’s what happened,” he said.
Indeed, coach Sandy Arespacochaga shared that at halftime, the staff challenged their players to work harder on the glass. As he put it, “I just want to point out that aside from Thirdy, the other guys did a good job on the offensive boards because we didn’t have any in the first half. That’s one of the things that coach Tab [Baldwin] instructed our players to do – get offensive rebounds.”
He then continued, “We ended up with 12 offensive rebounds and we got 14 points off of it so it’s not just Thirdy, but also other guys also.”
Ravena could only agree that even with his highlight, it’s still team effort that has led Ateneo to a league-leading 3-0 standing. “Of course, with the team, it doesn’t matter who gets the most points or the most rebounds. all that matters is that we play into the system,” he said.
Still, it’s slowly but surely becoming clear that the Blue Eagles have found their new leader.
And the good news is Ravena isn’t done bettering himself. “I need to be more consistent than last season. I just have to be mentally-focused that I need to be more consistent,” he expressed.
