Why Albert Martinez accepted role in ‘La Luna Sangre’

MANILA – One of the reasons Albert Martinez accepted his role in “La Luna Sangre” is because he wanted to work with Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla anew.

He first worked with the popular love team in the ABS-CBN series “Princess and I” which aired in 2012.

“I have been wanting to work with Kath and DJ again. I treat them like my children. They were still kids when I first worked with them and now I see them as adults who grew up to be good people,” Martinez said.

Martinez said it makes him happy to see Bernardo and Padilla develop a “sense of responsibility, awareness and respect to other people, especially the passion for their work.”

In “La Luna Sangre,” Martinez plays the role of Prof T, a scientist who devoted his life to the world of vampires. He leads the vampire-hunting group Moonchasers.

Asked what’s different about his character, Martinez said: “It is full of mystery. I like that Prof T is not a linear character but is multi-dimensional. He is not limited and boxed. Prof T will do everything to achieve his end goal and he is using the Moonchasers as his instrument to fulfill that goal. We also don’t know why he is doing this or which side he is really on.”

While he has already come to love his new character, Martinez shared that it wasn’t the original role he’s supposed to play in the series.

“At first, my participation was supposed to be the father of Daniel played by Romnick Sarmenta. Unfortunately, I was busy taping the pilot episodes of another series so I had to attend to that first. Later on, they focused on the characters’ quest against the vampires. That’s why my character Prof T came to life,” he said.

“La Luna Sangre” airs from Monday to Friday after “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” on ABS-CBN.
