Sobra na. Tama na! This was the cry of numerous people from all walks of life who braved the rains in joining the funeral of KIAN LOYD DE LOS SANTOS reportedly shot in cold blood in what was another victim of extrajudicial killing (EJK).

* * *

Kian Loyd died as a people’s martyr. His brutal murder highlights the evil of summary executions. It has also opened the eyes and minds of the people on the malevolent practice.

* * *

Such killings not only violate God’s Fifth Commandment “You shall not kill” but also snuffs out the life of an innocent or wrong person.

When that happens can the perpetrators return his or her life?

* * *

Extrajudicial killing must stop; otherwise, what the government is promoting is GENOCIDE.

“To express our grief and condolences with the families of the victims,” Bishop Honesto Ongtioco of the Diocese of Cubao stated in his episcopal message in the wake of recent spate of killings, “I ask all parishes to ring our church bells every 8 p.m. for 5 minutes starting Aug. 22 until Aug. 29.

* * *

“Let the ringing of bells also signify the diocese’s strongest condemnation to the continuation of these killings which is being justified as necessary in the war against drugs.

* * *

Bishop Ongtioco further said: “While we acknowledge the evilness of drugs, we vehemently disagree with the ‘proposed solution’ to eradicate this problem — a solution that has no regard for due process, for human rights and for human life.

* * *

“We continue to pray for justice for the victims; peace in our country; and enlightenment for all Filipinos to preserve the sanctity of life.”

INDIGENT SICK. You will not bring your wealth with you to the next life. Why not leave some behind for the poor and less fortunate.

* * *

I am appealing on behalf of some indigent sick we are helping like Dante Cabansag and Fr. Ruben Mamuad, SVD, who are undergoing hemodialysis thrice weekly; also patients afflicted with cancer Stage 4, asthma and TB.

* * *

Remember: For every charitable act, God will reward you. “Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink in my name will surely get his reward” (Mk 9,41).
