Wangs Basketball erupted for 46 points in the third quarter to dismantle Zark’s Burgers, 133-92, yesterday in another lopsided affair in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Robbie Herndon, Michael Juico, John Ambuludto and Christian Dechaves accounted for 30 of those points as the Couriers turned a 56-50 halftime lead into a runaway victory that boosted their quarterfinals bid.
Wangs improved to 4-3, already its best mark since joining the PBA’s developmental league in 2013.
Juico, the former San Sebastian standout, finished with 30 points, 12 rebounds and six assists while Herndon added 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting to bounce back from a dismal showing in last week’s 94-69 defeat to Cignal.
In that game, Herndon was held in check by the Cignal defense and made just seven points on 3-of-12 shooting.
Four other Wangs players were in double figures, with Ambuludto scoring 16 points, Timothy Habelito posting 12, Michole Sorela 11 and Ryan Arambulo 10 points.
Zark’s dropped to 1-6, spoiling the 37-point performance of former pro Robby Celiz. RR de Leon and Clark Bautista added 18 and 15 points, respectively.
Flying V was playing Racal Motors at presstime, with the former looking to stretch its unbeaten run to five games.
Racal has lost its last two games after a 2-0 start.
