Devotees of the Sacred Heart of Jesus will have a series of activities lined up by Radio Veritas leading up to the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Friday, June 23.
A Eucharistic celebration will be aired at 12:15 p.m. to be concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Regnant Tolentino, rector of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage (Antipolo Cathedral), and Rev. Fr. Alvin Pila of the Diocese of Malolos and anchor of the Radio Veritas program, Divine Mercy Hour.
A special novena in honor of the Sacred Heart is on-going until June 22 at the Veritas Chapel in Q.C.
Devotees may also take part in the Pledge of Devotion program of the station in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The prayer request, petition, thanksgiving, and other intentions will be offered at the Holy Mass and rosary prayer at Veritas Chapel. The names of the devotees will also be mentioned in the different programs of the station, and they will be given a pledge of devotion to certify their pledge as well as a Sacred Heart of Jesus scapular.
Devotion to the Sacred Heart began in the year 1672. On repeated occasions, Jesus appeared to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, a Visitation nun, in France, and during these apparitions He explained to her the devotion to His Sacred Heart as He wanted people to practice it.
Jesus asked to be honored in the symbol of His Heart of flesh. He asked for acts of reparation, for frequent communion especially during First Fridays of the month, and the observance of the Holy Hour.
