VACC founding chairman and president Dante Jimenez on Wednesday expressed hope that he could still rectify his impeachment complaint after the House Committee on Justice dismissed their ouster petition due to flawed verification.
He said his group will coordinate with the House panel, chaired by Oriental Mindoro Rep. Reynaldo Umali on how they would be able to correct their complaint, admitting that they used the wrong verification form.
“We could rectify this form because this is the first time we filed an impeachment complaint against the Chief Justice. We will coordinate with the Committee on Justice on how we will be able to rectify this. May chance pa ba? Kung wala na then wala tayong magagawa, yan ang demokrasya eh,” Jimenez said.
The House Committee on Justice dismissed the Jimenez-Mallari complaint because the verification used was for complaints endorsed by members of the House and was not for petitions filed by private individuals.
Jimenez said the fight still continues amid the decision of the House panel. “We are happy at least the Committee on Justice is doing its work. That is how democracy must work, sometimes you win sometimes you lose. But meron pa sigurong pag-asa kasi ang pinaguusapan pa lang naman dito yung form e hindi pa naman yung substance eh,” he said.
“Kung dismissed na wala tayong magagawa dun pero ang gusto lang namin maclarify sa Committee on Justice pwede pa ba marectify yung complaint namin in the area of form,” he asked.
