The NU Lady Bulldogs account for 60 percent of the UAAP 80 Women’s Mythical Team
National University’s continued dominance in the UAAP 80 Women’s Basketball Tournament was very much evident in how the Mythical Team came to be.
Lady Bulldogs big Jack Danielle Animam emerged as the top individual player after ending the elimination round with 77.26 Statistical Points (SPs). She has been one of the best in rebounds and blocks while also carrying part of the scoring load for her team.
Along with Rhena Itesi and Ria Nabalan, the third-year player has powered NU into chugging along even after the graduation of three-time MVP Afril Bernardino.
The Lady Bulldogs have yet again swept the elimination round and have yet again seized an outright berth into the Finals.
Congolese center Itesi ranked third in the MVP race with 71.14 SPs while do-it-all guard Nabalan placed fourth with 69.00 SPs.
Joining them in the Mythical Team are MVP runner-up Love Sto. Domingo of University of the East and Jhenn Angeles of University of Sto. Tomas.
Angeles, who played the last game of her collegiate career last Saturday, replaced teammate Sai Larosa as a selection.
Larosa wound up fifth in the MVP race, but was disqualified from the award following her ejection and subsequent suspension.
As per league rules, a suspension disqualifies a player for individual awards.
