Holly Holm entered UFC Fight Night 111 in Singapore with a big chip on her shoulder, looking for a win that would get her mixed martial arts career back on track. “The Preacher’s Daughter” has lost three straight UFC fights and going up against Brazilian and former title contender Bethe Correia wasn’t going to be a stroll in the park.
Nevertheless, Holm kept herself in check in a match that started out pretty slow. There was hardly any action in the first two rounds before referee Marc Goddard stepped in to warn both female fighters.
“I respect the game plan and what you’re trying to do but you have to make something happen,” Goddard told Holm and Correia during the break via Fox Sports.
The warning hardly made any difference until the third round. Holm patiently waited for the right moment and Correia inadvertently set up herself for the kills. Taunting and inviting Holm to make a strike, “The Preacher’s Daughter” did just that. Holm connected with a perfectly timed kick and followed it up with a couple of punches to Brazilian and walk away with the win.

“There’s so many people that supported me through these three losses,” said Holm. “My team that flies halfway across the world for me and my coaches at home.”
