Who could forget the all-girl band General Luna?
In 2010, five equally beautiful and talented women rocked the country with their impressive muscial skills and charming personalities. Upon releasing their first self-titled album, General Luna, Nicole Asensio (vocals), Caren Mangaran (lead guitar), Audry Dioniso (rhythm guitar), Alex Montemayor (bass guitar), and Bea Lao (drums) were unstoppable. They had guestings and gigs, and the hit singles and viral music videos were aplenty. They showed the Pinoy rock scene that they were ready to take the stage.
Unfortunately, the group disbanded four years after their inception, and the girls we loved pursued their own paths.
We know—seeing the picture above makes us miss the days when these badass ladies were a solid unit. But now, since Nicole Asensio is currently fronting our September issue, it seems only right to do some snooping and catch up with these rockin’ babes.
Nicole released her first solo album, Schizoprano, two years after the band decided to call it quits. She is now busy pursuing her love for theater and classical music—all while mixing things up with her signature rock and roll style. Of course, Nicole is also this month’s FHM cover girl.
Caren also pursued a solo career right after General Luna. She’s currently the lead vocalist and guitarist of Tevanny. She also plays the ukulele, models, and hosts events as well.
Audry’s latest project as guitarist and back-up vocals is for Ely Buendia’s (her current beau) first solo song after 17 years, “Gabi Man, May Araw Din.” She also directs music videos in between gigs. Her most recent project was Ely and The Itchyworms‘ video for “Lutang.”
Alex still rocks her bass guitar, performing with Aspen Way. She’s also happily in a relationship with FHM May 2014 Online Babe Alex Moreno. These girls are a pretty pair!
After giving birth to a baby girl last 2013 (with ex-boyfriend, Sid Lucero), Bea went on hiatus to focus on the new chapter of her life. Now, she’s back in the music scene and is currently the drummer of all-star band, Plan Of Fools.
