BACOLOD City – Tension erupted morning of Nov 29, 2017 after a Taiwanese and 11 other individuals attempted to take over a bar located at the Goldernfields Commercial Complex in Barangay Singcang-Airport here.

Based on an initial report from the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), Han Suan Chang and 11 security guards tried to enter the establishment owned by Joseph Nazareno.

Concerned that a hostage taking is taking place inside the bar, local residents contacted Police Station 8 (PS8).

The BCPO Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit arrived to contain the situation and pacify the two groups.

Both groups later settled down after several minutes of negotiation between Nazareno, Chang, and the police officers.

In an interview with the local media after the incident, Nazareno accused Chang of masterminding a shooting episode in September 2017 where he was nearly killed.

Nazareno also claimed that 11 security guards introduced themselves as police officers and showed documents claiming that Chang was the legitimate owner of the bar.

He denied that the Taiwanese was the owner saying Chang was supposed to be an investor in his bar.

But the deal went sour after Chang failed to pay his share.

Nazareno added that several items inside his establishment were damaged during the confrontation, including close-circuit television cameras (CCTV).

Chang and the 11 individuals were later taken to PS8 for questioning and investigation.
