Pocari Sweat reigned supreme in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.
BaliPure gave Pocari Sweat a scare in the first set.
It proved to be the Water Defenders’ last stand in the winner-take-all battle Thursday.
The Lady Warriors bounced back from another sloppy start before crushing BaliPure, 20-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-19, in Game 3 of the best-of-three Finals series to reign supreme in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Pocari Sweat had a dry opening set but found their rhythm just in time to mount the comeback behind the troika of American imports Krystal Rivers, Michelle Strizak and local star Myla Pablo.
The conquest added another title to the Lady Warriors’ already growing collection of championships after winning the Open Conference and Reinforced Conference crowns in the V-League last year.
The victory was a sweet reward for Pocari Sweat after going through a rough road where the Lady Warriors needed to go through the round robin quarterfinals with just one import after Bosnian middle Edina Selimovic went down with a right hamstring injury midway in the preliminary round. They survived a best-of-three semifinals that went the full distance against the Power Smashers for the right to face top seed BaliPure.
Pocari Sweat took the series opener, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22, 26-24, before the Water Defenders equalized last Tuesday in a thrilling 25-15, 26-24, 24-26, 24-26, 15-13, Game 2 win.
