A suspected bomber of the terrorist Maute group was arrested by combined operatives of the Martial Law Special Action Group (ML SAG) of the military and police in Cagayan de Oro City early Thursday morning.
Brig. Gen. Gilbert Gapay, the spokesperson of the Martial Law implementation under the Eastern Mindanao Command, identified the wanted person as Mohammad Noaim Maute, alias Abu Jadid.
Gapay said Jadid was nabbed by combined elements of the Army’s 403rd Brigade Martial Law implementing unit, Cagayan de Oro Philippine National Police and CIDU-10 at Sta. Cruz, Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City, at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
Jadid is a suspected bomber of the Maute Terrorist Group. His arrest was made possible by virtue of Arrest Order No. 1 issued by Secretary Delfin Lorenzana of the Department of National Defense (DND) dated May 29, 2017.
Also included in the arrest order were members, couriers and spies coming from the Maute Group, Abu Sayyaf, Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF), and Maguid Group.
To avoid being caught, the suspect even used a fake student I.D. from the Mindanao State University with the name Alfaiz P. Mamintal.
Jadid was initially brought to the Police Station 9 in Cagayan de Oro City for documentation and proper disposition. During questioning, Maute reportedly admitted to police that he is the same person included in the gallery of local terrorist operating in the country identified as Abu Jadid.
A person who shared the same name as Jadid was arrested about five days ago in Cagayan de Oro City, but it was later found out that he was not the suspected terrorist.
Jadid is now detained at the Police Regional Office (PRO-10) headquarters in Camp Alagar Cagayan de Oro.
