Following three straight defeats that almost nullified its perfect 4-0 start, Star rised to 5-3 in the standings, keeping their shot at a possible twice-to-beat advantage intact.

Star finally snapped its alarming three-game slide.

The Hotshots are back on the winning track in the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup after an impressive 109-83 victory over Globalport Friday at the Big Dome.

Following three straight defeats that almost nullified its perfect 4-0 start, Star rised to 5-3 in the standings, keeping their shot at a possible twice-to-beat advantage intact.

“Coming from a three-game losing skid, we have that sense of urgency to play hard and a must win for us itong game na ito. Kasi in order for us to have a chance in the top four, kailangan naming manalo sa game na ito,” head coach Chito Victolero said.

“Right now we have a chance kasi dikit-dikit naman yung standings. Ang mahirap lang dito we only have one day to prepare against TNT. I don’t know if that’s enough to prepare against TNT,” he added.

The KaTropa are currently fourth in the standings with a 6-3 mark.

Malcolm Hill powered the Hotshots with a game-high 32 points and 12 rebounds while Ian Sangalang posted a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double as Star ended up leading by as many as 26 points.

The Batang Pier, who now lost three straight for a 3-6 mark got 20 points from import Murphy Holloway.
