The LTFRB, along with the Land Transportation Office, is making a series of inspections on bus terminals in Metro Manila since Monday.

On the first day of inspection in line with the Department of Transportation’s “Oplan Byaheng Ayos: Undas 2017,” the board inspected at least 11 bus terminals in Cubao area in Quezon City.

LTFRB member and spokesperson Atty. Aileen Lizada reported that some bus terminals were issued tickets and some public utility vehicles were impounded.

An Inspection Report Summons (IRS) was issued to Alps Bus for failure to display person with disabilities (PWD) stickers at the first row of the bus.

The board reminded bus terminal owners that the first row of the bus is reserved for senior citizen and PWD passengers.

Alps Bus was also fined P50,000 for their first offense of nondisplay of PWD sticker.

A unit of Dimple Bus, on the other hand, was issued a ticket by the LTFRB for a broken windshield that is not fit to travel and may cause accidents.

The LTO also asked some of the bus units of Volante Bus to change tire as their thin tires may cause accidents.

Meanwhile, the board also impounded at least four PUVs including a colorum taxi and van, and two taxis with no meter seal.

The team also inspected Tuesday bus terminals in Caloocan and Manila, and other terminals in Cubao area.

The LTFRB also reminded the passengers not to use colorum vehicles and report to their hotline any violations they will encounter.

Lizada said the estimated number of passengers going back to their provinces for Undas this year is “surprisingly lower” than the previous years.

“Sa number of passengers, it’s surprisingly low. Even now, I’m getting reports na hindi ganoon karami ang mga pasahero (that the passengers are not that many0 [unlike in the previous years],” said Lizada in an interview Tuesday.
