Being true blooded Halloweenies, my family looks forward to the scary celebration every year. By first week of October, we already have our costumes picked out. So we were thrilled to be invited to Krispy Kreme’s (KK) Trick or Treat Party at the doughnut brand’s flagship store in Bonifacio Global City last Oct. 29. The husband donned a Jack the Pumpkin King shirt and an axe headband, the son came in a big afro wig with hot pink windmill sunnies (It really spins!), my six-year-old decided to forego her glow in the dark Jack-o’-Lantern outfit and wore her ubër cute Sergeant Sue uniform (Chief of the Piglet Patrol with matching gold badge, black tie, and pink tutu) while I put on my violet spider headpiece with its eight long legs protruding from my crown and a spider mask to boot. We were ready to party!
The KK Doughnut Factory was already teeming with kids and the big kids-at-heart when we arrived. Ghouls, ghosts, and Pennywise clowns of all ages and sizes lined the registration table to get their wrist tags and swag bags. We had a fun time posing at the photo booth. As if on cue, a group of adult superhero cosplayers made their way to the booth. Guests scrambled to get their cameras and cell phones out to get selfies and group shots with their favorite superheroes by the KK backdrop. All the children had wide smiles on their faces.
Once inside, kiddie guests tried their luck at the different spine-chilling game booths. My daughter R easily knocked out all six of the monster cans set up in a pyramid. I saw a long line by the mini bowling alley where the pins were decorated to look like mummies. Junior golfers were swinging at the far end. How cute! There was also a face painting section where KK’s young fans were transformed to mini monsters of their choice.
No Halloween party would be complete without free treats. The crew generously handed out their infamously loved original glazed doughnuts to all the Hallow’s Eve revelers. And since the Witching Hour is all about pulling off scares while having a great time, the country’s leading premium doughnut brand had prepared frightfully delicious treats for everyone to enjoy. The lineup included Green Frankenstein, Creepy Crawler Jelly Worms, Pumpkin, Mr. Skeleton, Spider’s Web, and my kids’ favorite Halloween Sprinkles. Sweet cravings, check! What a spook-tacular party!
