Sayang lang kasi siguro di niya siguro nakita (na libre ako) — Thirdy Ravena
With the game and most importantly, the outright Finals berth in the 80th UAAP men’s basketball tournament on the line, Ateneo de Manila University’s Thirdy Ravena found himself free at the top left of the rainbow arc.
The Blue Eagles were down three and with only 8.9 ticks remaining after De La Salle University’s Ricci Rivero drained his two charities.
Ateneo needed a triple to force an overtime.
Matt Nieto brought the ball down, on Ateneo’s side just in front of their bench, was trapped by three defenders but still managed to pass the rock to Anton Asistio.
The Blue Eagles guard was able to shake off Abu Tratter on a fake but his attempt was swatted away by Rivero as time expired and the Green Archers winning the last match of the eliminations’ 79-76 Saturday at the Big Dome.
As for Ravena, he was unmolested on his spot the whole time with DLSU’s 6-foot-7 Ben Mbala, his nearest defender, backing up deep under the basket.

Ravena was 1-of-2 from the three-point arc, Asistio bricked all his five attempts from that area.
“It was really designed for Anton,” said Ravena in defense of his teammate, who still had time for an extra pass when Tratter recovered after his fake and Rivero closing in to contest his shot.
“Pero sayang lang kasi siguro ‘di niya siguro nakita (na libre ako),” Ravena added.
The loss, put the Blue Eagles on a Final Four duel against Far Eastern University armed with a twice-to-beat advantage on Saturday.
“It happens and you have to accept it,” said Ravena of the loss. “You just have to prepare for the next game.”
