Rodrigue Ebondo of the CEU Scorpions is fully aware that his college playing years are nearing an end. The Congolese does have plans ahead. Those include possibly playing as an import in the PBA and a stint in France.
“If it’s God’s grace, why not? The talent is there but I know I need more experience” said Ebondo when asked if he would consider playing in the PBA.
He knows that the task of matching up against other seasoned reinforcements will be a daunting one. So what can teams expect from him?
“The first thing I can provide for a team is my energy and the spirit of competition. I hate to lose. Every time my team loses, I cannot sleep,” says Ebondo.
He adds, “I believe I can help any team. I have played against PBA teams with high-caliber imports. For any team that would get me, they will not be disappointed.”
Aside from the PBA, Ebondo also has looming opportunities abroad. France has shown interest but the CEU big man is keeping an open mind on his options.
“I feel great as a player. My biggest dream was to simply play competitive basketball. I didn’t really think about going somewhere (to play). The only thing I was thinking was playing and working hard. Right now, I believe those sacrifices are finally paying off,” ended Ebondo.
Ebondo is currently playing for CEU in the UCBL and was recently tapped by Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes as a possible reinforcement for the coming FIBA Asia Champions Cup.
