4 p.m. – BaliPure vs Creamline
6:30 p.m. – Power Smashers vs Pocari
Pocari Sweat resumes its title retention campaign when it clashes with Power Smashers even as fancied teams BaliPure and Creamline square off at the start of the semifinal round today in the Premier Volleyball League women’s tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Lady Warriors strive to protect their flawless records since the start of the quarters in their 6:30 p.m. tussle with the Power Smashers, while also hoping to draw first blood in their best-of-three affair.
The Water Defenders and the Cool Smashers raise the curtain at 4 p.m. in their own series.
Pocari finished the round-robin quarters unbeaten in three games to earn the third seeding in this phase, but the reigning champions are wary of their chances against the Power Smashers, who clinched an outright semis berth after placing second in the eliminations.
Pocari coach Rommel Abella hopes they remain consistent all throughout the match the way they did in destroying Perlas in their last quarters match Thursday, 25-23, 25-15, 25-18.
“We had a couple of five-setters in our previous games and while it tested the characters of our players, we cannot afford to give our opponents the momentum since this is the semis,” said Abella.
Abella will continue to rely on American import Michelle Strizak to spearhead their offensive attack along with Maricar Nepomuceno and Myla Pablo, while floor defense will be taken care of by libero Melissa Gohing.
