A shooting team representing the Philippine Army picked up several medals in the Australian Army Skill-Arms Meeting in Victoria, Australia.
Headed by contingent commander Colonel Royland M. Orquia, the squad bagged 10 gold medals, 13 silver and 1 bronze, and a perpetual trophy during the preliminary awarding presentation at the Puckapunyal Military Area.
Final matches will be held on Friday, including the Rifle Falling Plate, Light Support Weapon (LSW) Falling Plate, and the Top Shot Championship. The winner of each category will earn a perpetual trophy during the closing ceremony to be held later in the day.
The Australian Army Skill-Arms Meeting, which started on May 12, is a shooting competition involving government-issued firearms (pistol, rifle and LSW).
Besides the Philippines, other countries invited were: Cambodia, Canada, East Timor, France, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Tonga, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States.
