Games Today (University of St. La Salle, Bacolod City)
2 p.m. – Generika-Ayala vs Foton
4 p.m. – Cocolife vs Cignal
6 p.m. – F2 Logistics vs Petron

Defending champion Foton and powerhouse Petron try to maintain their flawless records today at the resumption of the 2017 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the University of St. La Salle gym in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

The Tornadoes raise the curtain in their 2 p.m. confrontation with the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers while the Blaze Spikers collide with the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in the 6 p.m. nightcap of the tripleheader.

Sandwiched between the two thrilling duels is the 4 p.m. tussle between winless Cocolife (0-2) and Cignal (1-2).

The out-of-town playdate is just the first stop of the league’s “Spike on Tour” event aimed at bringing intense volleyball action closer to provincial fans.

The spotlight, however, is focused on Petron as it looks to extend its winning run to four games following victories over Generika-Ayala, Sta. Lucia Realty and Cignal.

The Blaze Spikers only dropped one set out of their three wins, making them a formidable title contender in the season-ending conference.

But F2 Logistics is unfazed of Petron’s hot start as the Cargo Movers hope to start their own title bid on a high note.

Mentored by multi-titled coach Ramil De Jesus, F2 will be parading a formidable lineup made up of former La Salle standouts Aby Maraño, Kim Fajardo, Cha Cruz, Kim Dy, Majoy Baron and libero Dawn Macandili.

Adding strength in an already solid roster are imports Kennedy Bryan of the United States and Maria Jose Perez of Venezuela.

Petron, meanwhile, has its own arsenal in Ces Molina, veteran setter Rhea Dimaculangan, Mika Reyes, and imports Lindsay Stalzer and Hillary Hurley.

Stalzer and Hurley’s combined force was evident in their four-set triumph over Cignal last Oct. 28 where the duo conspired for 44 points including 36 attacks.

In the other pairing, Foton seeks its third straight win after beating Cignal and Cocolife that saw 6-foot-5 Jaja Santiago teaming up with foreign reinforcements Sara Klisura and Dragana Perunicic.

Generika-Ayala, which is at the middle standings with 1-2, is not easily intimidated as its own foreign pair in Darlene Ramdin and Katarina Pilepic.
