La Union/Pangasinan/Cavite — Nine people were killed in separate road accidents this weekend that happened in the provinces of La Union, Pangasinan, and Cavite
In La Union, a 39-year-old agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and one of his passengers died on the spot after his grey Toyota Altis slammed into the rear end of a trailer truck in Barangay Baccuit, Bauang town, at 12:50 a.m. yesterday.
Chief Inspector Silverio Ordinado Jr., La Union police information officer, identified the fatalities as PDEA agent Mark Anthony C. Xcevea, the driver of the car; and Ricardo V. Gallardo, 39, of Aringay town.
Ordinado said another passenger of the car was taken to the Ilocos Training Medical Center in San Fernando City for treatment.
Meanwhile, police were investigating trailer truck driver, Raul M. Dinangan, 57, of Baguio City, over the incident.
A few hours earlier in Rosario town, three people were killed in a collision involving a tricycle, a van, and a multicab truck along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Bani.
Chief Insp. Bernabe Orobillo, Rosario chief of police, identified the fatalities as Bernardo Abaco Jr., driver of the tricycle driver; and two of his young children on board. His wife was injured in the accident.
Orobillo said multiple homicide charges are set for filing against Jerwin Supnet, driver of the multicab that hit the tricycle and the van.
In Pangasinan, also four people were killed in road mishaps that involved motorcycles, the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) said.
The PPO report said Ryan Cayabyab, 35, was killed when his motorcycle was struck by a Toyota Fortuner in Bautista, Pangasinan.
Another fatality, Jennifer del Rosario Hora, 21, was on a motorcycle with two others when it rammed into a plant box on the provincial road in Barangay Nancalobasaan, Urdaneta City, last Friday.
Meanwhile, the report also listed Ronnel Tagabi, 17, of Malasiqui; and Fernando Romua, 65, of Binalonan as having been killed in a motorcycle-to-motorcycle collisions.
Finally in Cavite, 40-year-old gym instructor Jayson Cruz Monces of General Trias City succumbed to head injuries after crashing his motorcycle on Daanghari Road in Barangay Pasong Buaya I, Imus City.
PO2 John Carlo C. Punzalan, case investigator, said the self accident happened at 3 p.m. Friday while Monces was driving along the slippery road.
