Barangay Ginebra tries to make the race for the top 2 places in the standings a lot more interesting when it takes on Blackwater in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna on Friday.
The Ginebra-Blackwater game tips off at 7 p.m., after GlobalPort and Rain Or Shine open the out-of-town double-header at 4:15 p.m.
Ginebra is coming off a morale-boosting win over San Miguel on Sunday, a victory that sent coach Tim Cone and co. to the quarterfinals.

With 3 games in hand, 2 of which against struggling opponents, Ginebra needs to take advantage of a relatively friendly schedule beginning with Blackwater, currently 2nd to bottom in the standings but still has a chance to qualify for the next round if certain scenarios work in their favor.
Justin Brownlee, LA Tenorio and Japeth Aguilar are expected to lead the way for Ginebra, while Greg Smith and Niño Canaleta are Blackwater’s main men.
In the 1st game, Rain Or Shine tries to reach the final 8 with a win over GlobalPort.
