Devotees of the revered Our Lady of Mt. Carmel are invited to attend the daily novena in her honor on-going until July 15 at the Veritas Chapel in Quezon City.
Rev. Fr. Anton Pascual, Radio Veritas president, encourages the public to join the celebration and to continue praying for the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary under her title Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.
A fiesta mass will be celebrated on her actual feast day on July 16.
“Be part of the celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel through prayers and pledges and may our station of truth be your instrument in expressing your devotion not only to the Blessed Virgin Mary, but also to our Lord Jesus Christ,” Pascual said.
As Radio Veritas celebrates the scapular feast, prayer requests, petitions, thanksgiving, and other intentions will be offered at the Holy Mass and rosary prayer at the Our Lady of Veritas Chapel on July 15.
Their names will be announced in the different programs of the station and they will be given a small image of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, stampita, and a brown scapular.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary as the patroness of the Carmelite Order. The Carmelite Order was formed by a group of hermits living in the cave of the Carmel Mountain during the late 12th and early to mid-13th century.
The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is known to many Catholic faithful as the “scapular feast,” in reference to the Brown Scapular of the Carmelite order.
The Blessed Mother appeared as Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Lourdes, France in 1858 and on her last apparition in Fatima, Portugal on Oct. 13, 1917. Mount Carmel is a holy place in northern Israel that was mentioned about 30 times in the Old Testament. It was the first place dedicated to the Virgin Mary as early as the 12th century.
