DLSU Green Archer Ben Mbala is the UAAP MVP once again, coming barely 24 hours after the DLSU Green Archers scuttled the Ateneo Blue Eagles.
It was the second consecutive award for the Cameroonian though he believes it would be sweeter if they can make it back-to-back UAAP title conquests.
“It will be sweeter with a championship at the end of the season,” said Mbala in a special interview.
The Green Archers were able to regroup in time against the Blue Eagles, preventing Ateneo from sweeping the eliminations. This means that the semifinal format will remain the same with Ateneo and La Salle holding a twice-to-beat advantage over the FEU Tamaraws and Adamson Soaring Falcons respectively.
Mbala was practically a one-man wrecking crew against Ateneo. He finished the night with monster numbers of 28 points, 19 rebounds, 6 steals and 6 blocks. He, however, did not hide the fact that the calls got to them.
“It was very frustrating because we were exerting a lot of effort. Coach always tells us to play through the bad calls and stay composed. That’s exactly what we did despite things not going our way,” said Mbala.
Against Adamson, Mbala and company need only a win to get back into the UAAP finals. However, they are not taking the Falcons lightly.
“We shouldn’t underestimate them. They are a very good team,” said the DLSU star.
Looking ahead, Mbala is aware that more bumps and bruises are coming. He is ready to take the hits.
“I am definitely ready for it. That’s something I am expecting every single game,” Mbala ended.
