A Muntinlupa City judge has issued a second warrant of arrest against detained Senator Leila de Lima in connection with another drug case filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Judge Amelia Fabros-Corpuz of Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 205 issued the arrest warrant against De Lima in case No. 17-166 for alleged illegal drug trading in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

De Lima is currently detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Service Unit in Camp Crame due to the first arrest warrant issued by Judge Juanita Guerrero of Muntinlupa RTC Branch 204 on February 23 based on criminal case 17-165 for illegal drug trading.

The case is still pending in Guerrero’s court.

Atty. Alex Padilla, one of De Lima’s lawyers, told the Manila Bulletin that they will file a motion for reconsideration before Judge Corpuz.

“We will file a motion for reconsideration dahil we don’t find it timely and appropriate dahil wala pa yung Supreme Court resolution,” said Padilla, referring to the motion filed by De Lima’s camp asking the High Court to void her first warrant of arrest.

Corpuz issued the arrest warrant with no bail recommended but Padillla said the senator is not required
