Maine Mendoza recently visited her dream destination, Maldives.
She was joined by sister Coleen, who celebrated her 24th birthday there.
A homebody, the actress admitted to Bulletin Entertainment “ngayon lang talaga ako nag-e-enjoy mag-travel.”
Maine has also been to New York, Japan, London, Germany, and Italy. Locally, she has enjoyed the sights of Bataan, Bohol and Batangas.
She wants to visit Maldives again soon, this time, with her barkada.
“Ang saya kasi,” she said, describing Maldives as “beautiful and relaxing.”
Maine is fond of taking photos that’s why she always has a camera with her when she travels.
Talking about the bikini photo of her taken in Maldives, she said, “Nakakagulat kasi ’di ko naman akalain na magte-trend siya. Pero, ayun, nakakatuwa na may nakaka-appreciate ng aking buto’t balat na katawan.”
Maine is on a diet of chicken breast and asparagus. She does a lot of cardio workout, too.
When teased about her looking drool-worthy on the photo, she said, “Angulo lang talaga siya eh kasi ang laki ng tiyan ko.”
Recently, Maine made it to the ninth spot on a local men’s magazine’s 100 sexiest women list. She is up from 21st place last year.
“Ayun na nga ba eh, kalokohan ’to,” she quipped when asked for a reaction. “’Yun lang ang masasabi ko, isang malaking joke na napabilang po ako sa FHM Top 10 Sexiest pero thank you na rin po for considering me.”
While she hasn’t planned her next trip yet, she hopes it would be Palawan.
Asked about her most memorable trip, Maine mentioned her Morocco adventure.
The funny lady refused to share details, though.
“Basta ang daming experiences din du’n,” she said.
Maine always takes time to share her experiences with fans through social media. That said, she admitted to being remiss updating her blog of late.
“Pero hindi naman intentional ’yun, it’s because wala na akong time to write,” she said. “Kapag sa photos naman hindi naman ako madamot pero sa pagsusulat siguro, sharing my thoughts, my sentiments, duon nali-limit ko na ’yung sarili ko.”
Asked to compare traveling before and now, Maine noted how people recognize her.
“Kasi siyempre noon wala namang pumapansin sa akin kahit magpakalat-kalat ako sa lansangan,” she said, laughing.
Maine surprised her fans when she deactivated her Twitter account recently.
She shared her reason via her blogsite.
“Decided to take a break from Twitter too because Twitterworld’s been really toxic lately. How’s it now, by the way? Do you still remember when everything used to be fun there? When Twitter used to be a harmonious environment for everyone? Haha I know, me neither,” she wrote.
When Bulletin Entertainment asked her how long she intends to keep away from the platform, she said, “Wala pang definite date pero hindi ko naman siya as in iiwan permanently.”
Though she’s only been in the industry for two years, Maine has already learned so much.
“Dati naman simpleng babae lang ako, normal na babae lang pero ngayon parang bumongga na ’yung buhay ko,” she said, describing all the things happening to her as “katuparan ng pangarap ko.”
“’Yun ang tinatawag ko dito since ito ’yung secret ultimate dream ko noon. And ngayon I’m living the wildest dream, siyempre sobrang saya and super feel ko blessed talaga ako with everything that I have,” she added.
To those who want to follow in her footsteps, Maine advised, “Don’t be afraid to try new things. Kasi ganu’n ’yung ginawa ko and I ended up here.”
Maine revealed she and screen partner Alden Richards will star in a movie again but was mum on the actual playdate.
She is also set to release a book before the year ends.
“Memoirs siya, basta book about my self and kung ano-ano lang, experiences, lessons in life, personal book,” she said, adding it will have tons of pictures, too.
Another thing she looks forward to is the second year anniversary of AlDub later this month.
Successful as she is as TV host and actress, Maine wants to also establish herself as film director or writer.
“Kahit man lang ng short film,” she shared.
Asked about her experience doing the now-defunct “Destined To Be Yours,” Maine said, “Okay naman po siya. Siguro madami lang po akong kailangang gawing adjustments since hindi naman po ako sanay sa ganu’n (acting). Pero masaya naman kasi ang daming new experinces at ang daming naging new friends.”
Maine is now tagged Endorsement Queen being the face of more than 15 different brands and counting.
“Talaga po ba,” her first reaction. “Ako po kasi hindi ko po siya binibilang purposely, so hindi ko po alam kung ilan na po ’yung endorsement ko ngayon. Pero, ayun, siyempre nakakatuwa na ang dami ko na rin palang ine-endorse na products and ang daming nagtitiwala sa akin na brands.”
Asked about her prime consideration when accepting an endorsement offer, she said, “Siyempre gusto ko ’yung talagang ginagamit ko din. ’Yung talagang ako mismo tinatangkilik ko din kasi ang hirap mag-endorse ng product na hindi mo tinatangkilik, ’di ba?”
Recently, the 22-year-old actress was introduced as the newest brand ambassador of Jolly during its 20th anniversary party.
According to Fly Ace President Lucio “Jun” Cochanco the Phenomenal Star is the perfect endorser for the canned fruit and vegetable brand exhibiting a fun-loving, bubbly personality, as well as being inspirational.
“She represent the positive, unstoppable energy of today’s younger generation,” he said.
Maine who loves mushrooms, revealed she’s been using the brand even before she became its endorser.
Her favorite recipe? Mushroom sauteed in butter and garlic.
“Simple lang pero masarap, madalas merienda ko,” she shared.
Note that Maine graduated with a degree in culinary arts.
It was not planned, however.
“I was planning to take tourism kasi since I was planning to be a flight attendant when I graduated but since tumatanggap naman ang airlines company regardless of your course, naisip ko na lang na mag-take na lang din ng hospitality related (course) para at least meron naman akong ma-aral na iba, matutunang iba,” she revealed.
So what is her specialty?
“Wala kasi talaga akong specific na dish that I can call my own pero more on pasta niluluto ko sa family ko ’yung pesto,” she related.
