This is something I will never forget and leave.’

Marvin Agustin is already a successful actor and entrepreneur. Now, he has set his eyes on the director’s chair.

In show business for 22 years now, acting on several teleseryes and in the movies, including “Gimik,” “Flames,” “Esperanza,” and “Labs Ko Si Babes,” among others, Marvin enrolled himself in New York University for filmmaking. He also studied scriptwriting online.
It was his interest in directing that led him back to GMA-7.

After doing some TV shows with another network the past recent years, Marvin returns to GMA with a new primetime show topbilled by Bianca Umali and Miguel Tanfelix. This would be Miguel and Bianca’s reunion project on primetime after “Mulawin vs. Ravena,” Marvin is doing Kapuso’s newest teleserye while getting some mentoring from director Don Michael Perez.

At the same time, with Direk Don Michael Perez on the set, nagka-idea ako kung paano mag-direct sa TV. Kasi noong sa NYU kami, one camera setup, parang pelikula,” he said.

“So bini-brief ako at gina-guide ni Direk Don. Eventually, kapag maluwag-luwag ’yung schedule, baka ipa-shoot niya ako ng ibang scenes para masanay na ako, while I’m waiting for some projects na pwede kong i-direk.”

While he is also a successful restaurateur, Marvin will always have the local entertainment industry in his heart. He became popular in the late ’90s to early 2000s and his love team with Jolina Magdangal was a big hit.

“Pangarap ko maging Eddie Garcia, na kahit may edad na, talagang first on the set, last to leave. This is something I will never forget and leave,” Marvin said.

He is happy to have been given an opportunity by the Kapuso network to act and direct. In this new project, Marvin will play the role of a doctor.

“Naghahanap ako ng pwede ko mapagkaabalahan as a director. With my years in the industry, naging kaibigan ko ang lahat. So masarap sa pakiramdam na I can work with anyone. Even if gusto ko mag-direk, nagtatanong ako kung ano pwede kong gawin,” he said.

He admitted feeling challenged in his newest Kapuso teleserye as he has not acted for quite a time.

Working with GMA again, Marvin feels more than excited.

(With report from Bhenj Agustin)
