Cotabato City – Unsure about their future after five months of fighting rendered their city in ruins, evacuees of Marawi City arrive here Sunday on their way to Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao to join the clamor to create the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BAR).

“Displacement still hounds us, but we muster limited resources to come and witness how MILF and our government leaders would exert fresh thrust for the passage of the draft BBL (Bangasamoro Basic Law) which we look upon as a long-term solution to decades of strife in our midst,” Sainodin Cosain told The Manila Bulletin.

Cosain, a 47-year old trader complaining of losing properties in the Marawi crisis including his buy and sell business, said he and 27 other fellow evacuees will attend the Bangsamoro Assembly yesterday with “high hope for a positive result.”

He regarded reports about the possible attendance of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in the assembly as a “source of inspiration” as their group chartered four vans, travelling 140 to get to the venue of the assembly in Barangay Simuay in Sultan Kudarat town.
