The low pressure area east of Catarman, Northern Samar, has developed into a tropical depression, now named ‘Salome.’
As of 11 a.m. Thursday, the state weather bureau placed the following areas under tropical cyclone warning signal number 1:
- Metro Manila
- Camarines Norte
- Camarines Sur
- Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands
- Cavite, Batangas
- Oriental Mindoro
- Occidental Mindoro
- Northern Samar
- Eastern Samar
- Leyte including Biliran
‘Salome’ was last spotted at 50 kilometers south southwest of Juban, Sorsogon.
It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gusts reaching 90 kph, and will bring moderate to heavy rains within its 200-km diameter.
It moves sat 25 kph in a west-northwest direction.
’Salome’ is expected to traverse Sibuyan sea today and will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday (November 11) morning.
Meanwhile, classes in the following areas were suspended today due to inclement weather caused by tropical depression “Salome”
- Camarines Sur (All levels)
- Albay (All levels)
- Sorsogon (Elementary to High school)
- Naga (Pre-school to High school)
- San Pablo, Laguna (Pre-school to High school)
