Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto graced the premiere of “Love You to the Stars and Back,” their first movie after the well-received “Vince & Kath & James.”

The red carpet premiere was held Tuesday night at SM Megamall in Ortigas, and was also attended by director Antoinette Jadaone and other celebrities such as Erich Gonzales, Enchong Dee, and Ejay Falcon.

“Love You to the Stars and Back,” a romance flick about a boy with cancer who falls in love with a girl who believes in aliens, marks the return to the big screen of the rising teen stars, who have been dubbed as the next Rico Yan and Claudine Barretto.

Their last film, “Vince & Kath & James,” was the most successful entry in last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.

Much of the success of their pairing is credited to their undeniable chemistry.

In an interview on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” this Monday, Barretto admitted that “everything is real” when it comes to the romantic rumors linking her with Garcia, which may explain why many are saying that their “kilig” scenes feels genuine.

“It’s hard to fake. It’s hard to pretend. Iyon ang hindi ko kayang gawin,” she said.

The two have long been rumored to be a couple. And while they earlier downplayed it as just them being good friends, both Garcia and Barretto are now singing a different tune.

Recently, Garcia admitted that while he liked Barretto even before they worked on “Vince and Kath and James,” it was only in January this year that he started courting the actress.

“Sobra kong nae-enjoy iyong presence niya and sobra niya akong napapasaya. May mga scenes nga kaming ginawa ni direk na mga heavy scenes na hindi ko magawa kasi masaya talaga [ako kasama siya]. Napapasaya niya ako ng sobra,” he said.

Barretto added that she would not have allowed Garcia to court her if she doesn’t like him. “Siyempre pinayagan ko siya manligaw kasi siyempre may gusto rin naman talaga sa kanya,” she shared.
