At 5 a.m. today, the Philippines Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that tropical storm “Gorio” has intensified and slightly accelerated as it moves northwest at 15 kilometer per hour (kph).
“Gorio” was located at 545 km East Northeast of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. It has maximum sustained winds of 105 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 130 kph.
PAGASA has placed Batanes group of Islands under tropical cyclone warning signal number 1.
The weather bureau also reported that a tropical depression was spotted at West Philippine Sea, 450 km West of Calayan, Cagayan.
The western section of Luzon, including Metro Manila, will experience moderate to occasionally heavy rains due to the weather systems that continues to enhance the southwest monsoon.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rains will prevail over the rest of Luzon and Visayas.
