Austria was once again the star of the annual PBA Press Corps Awards Night, picking up a third straight coach of the year plum.

Well, San Miguel head coach Leo Austria got his own personal Grand Slam.

Austria was once again the star of the annual PBA Press Corps Awards Night, picking up a third straight coach of the year plum.

The Beermen mentor received a new trophy in the official presentation Thursday at the Gloria Maris restaurant in Cubao. And for winning coach of the year for a record third straight season, Austria gets to keep the Baby Dalupan trophy for good.

San Miguel in general was the big winner for the night with Ramon Ang named as Executive of the Year. He was represented by Beermen governor Robert Non.

Beermen guard Chris Ross was Defensive Player of the Year once again. Ross, together with teammate Alex Cabagnot, were also cited for winning Finals MVPs over the course of last season. Ginebra’s LA Tenorio was the other Finals MVP.

Speaking of Tenorio, the Gin King ace was the recipcient of the Order of Merit.

Other winners were Kelly Williams as the Comeback Player of the Year, Jio Jalalon as Mr. Quality Minutes, and Terrence Romeo as Scoring Champion.

Rookie of the Year RR Pogoy, Jalalon, Kevin Ferrer, Matthew Wright, and Reden Celda made up the all-rookie team while Jayson Castro, Ranidel De Ocampo, Tenorio, Beau Belga, Marc Pingris, and head coach Tim Cone were the all-interview squad.
