I couldn’t resist it when Tina Amper asked me to speak on Big Data and Machine Learning for GOAB. “Geeks on a Beach” more widely known as GOAB is the coolest techie event of the year. In its 5th iteration the event will be held at the Princesa Gardens Island Resort and Spa Hotel in Palawan.
For those of you that haven’t heard of GOAB, it is an “annual gathering of technology stakeholders pushing for the development of the Philippine Startup ecology”. It offers passionate startups the chance to meet and get funded by the investors attending the event. For investors, this is also a place to find the hottest startups in the region to invest in. Among them might be the next Uber, Grab, Facebook, Instagram. For local Governments looking to spice up their local economy, this is the place to be.
Why should you attend?
Aside from being in Palawan? It is a great opportunity for meeting new people. Learn from the technology stars and great speakers. They will enlighten us with their unique perspectives of the digital world. Additionally, I look forward to meeting friends like Joey Gurango, Robertson Chiang, Chris Tran, Jerry Tieng and Jay Fajardo among others. I also get to see the cool new startups that will be joining the Pitching competition.
Finally, hope to have lunch (if the opportunity allows it) with Dave Mclure of 500 Startups and Jojo Flores of Plug and Play Technology Center.
