Spritely is comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas’ walk these days.
Aside from the fact that she is getting married next month, the actress has noticeably lost weight. No wonder she is now comfortable wearing clothes that bare more skin as seen on her Instagram posts.
Bulletin Entertainment and other members of media caught up with Ai Ai recently and we can’t help but compliment her slimmer physique.
The actress is down to 115 lbs. (from 146 lbs.) and she credits the weight loss to her all-organic diet.
“Hindi na ako nag-wa-white rice talaga. Minsan quinoa (na lang ang kinakain ko) o ’di kaya cauliflower rice,” she said, adding her diet also consists of “less salt and sugar, no dairy products and meat.”
On her free time, Ai Ai hits the gym. She shares her workout videos on social media, aiming to inspire followers with her journey to being fit and fab.
She is fond of playing badminton and little surprise there – her fiancé Gerald Sibayan is a badminton instructor, after all.
All that said, Ai Ai noted it is not all about losing weight and being sexy, but leading healthy lifestyle.
“Actually hindi naman na ngayon lang ako ganito (nagda-diet at nag-gi-gym), dati pa kasi gusto ko talaga ng healthy lifestyle. Hindi lang sa dahil ikakasal (ako) o may ipo-promote kung hindi gusto ko talaga maayos ’yung katawan ko,” the 52-year-old mom of three said.
The more, the merrier
In her decades stay in showbiz, Ai Ai is still one of the most trusted actresses when it comes to endorsements.
As far as she can remember, the actress already has 30 to 35 product and brand endorsements under her belt. She recently signed a one-year contract with Pitalicous, a shawarma brand that has a Pinoy and Lebanese blend. It is owned by couple Jillian and Brian Francisco.
“Napakabait ng Diyos kasi in this point of my career… kahit ma-edad na ako sa industriya, marami pa ding kumukuha sa akin as endorser,” she enthused.
Ai Ai is confident her endorsement would help the business grow.
“Modesty aside and in God’s grace, napansin ko naman na lahat ng kompanya na nagsisimula pa lang at ginagawa akong endorser ay umaangat naman,” she said. “Tsaka I believe hindi naman nila ako kukunin if ever na sa tingin nila hindi ako makakatulong.”
As part of the deal, Ai Ai also received a franchise of the product.
Talking about businesses, the actress shared she will become more hands-on with its operation.
“Ang natutunan ko talaga sa business, parang baby talaga ’yan eh. Hindi mo pwedeng pabayaan kasi ’pag napabayaan, magkakasakit,” she explained. “So sabi ko if ever na magbukas ulit ako ng bagong business, talagang tutukan ko nang maigi hanggang sa lumaki siya ng maayos.”
Road to forever
Ai Ai couldn’t help but express excitement over her upcoming wedding. She and Gerald are set to exchange vows in December. Fans should expect the hashtag #FiestaAmore come their wedding day.
Though some of the details of the wedding were already announced, the church venue remains shrouded in secrecy.
“Confidential pa siya (simbahan). Para hindi din naman masyadong magulo,” she said. “I want this wedding to be a solemn gathering ng mga friends and family.”
Ai Ai shared that most of the wedding details was planned by her. She also revealed that she and Gerald had an 80-20 division when it came to expenses.
To those who question it, Ai Ai has to say this.
Their honeymoon will take place in Italy, a gift from TAPE Executive Tony Tuviera.
“Chika-chika muna sana ako kay Pope!” she said, smiling. “Siguro mga three weeks kaming mawawala after the wedding.”
Are they planning to have a baby right after they tie the knot?
“Siyempre naman. Kahit babae o lalaki, kahit ano basta normal.”
Talk about work
Busy as she is with her wedding preparations, Ai Ai still manages to deliver on her showbiz work.
She is is seen on the weekly game and gag show “Bossing And Ai,” alongside Vic Sotto. She finds it exciting in that “hindi kami umaarte dito, kumbaga kami talaga ’to.”
“At tsaka first time na magkasama kami ni Bossing sa isang game show na hindi kami umaarte na parang pelikula o sit-com,” she said. “Kumbaga mas totoo kami dito lalo na mas gamay na naming (ka-trabaho) ang isa’t-isa, so I can say na talagang masaya talaga ’to.”
