Former One Featherweight Champion and Team Lakay Honorio Banario is on a roll, winning his last four fights. Banario relishes the streak that he long craved for.

In Banario’s last fight, he demolished Jaroslav Jartim with a knockout punch that led to his opponent being carried out of the venue on a stretcher. It was his first knockout win since he won the One Featherweight Championship against Erik Kelly back in 2013.

Prior to winning four-straight matches, Banario experienced five-straight losses – two of which came at the hands of Koji Oishi. Part of his success was moving to Lightweight which addresses problems to weight-cutting.

Banario and stablemate, Eduard Folayang are now in the same weight division but he believes that he will once again become a One Champion. He believes he can become the first fighter in the organization to win two belts in different weight classes.

In the right time, in the right place,” Banario said.

While waiting for his chance to become a champion, Banario already pledged that whatever happens, he will not fight his ‘brother’ Eduard Folayang even if he rises up in the One Lightweight rankings.

Banario plans to just wait for whoever One Championship gives him as his next opponent though he already has a specific opponent in mind.

Folayang now enjoys his reign as the champion but just in case a fighter gets lucky to dethrone him, Banario is willing to fight his stablemate’s conqueror.

“Gusto ko. Babawian ko pagsasabihin nilang hindi sila magre-rematch. Syempre pagtuloy-tuloy ako ng panalo, talagang ako.”
