SINCE the introduction of its latest generation, remarkable enhancements kept on coming for this popular subcompact sedan.
In fact, Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) proved that there’s always room for innovations when they recently unveiled the new City. Bearing the manufacturer’s grand concept of “Advanced Energetic Smart Star”, this latest iteration of the City is packaged with high-tech and sporty design; class-leading fuel efficiency and comfort; and above-class safety that provide customers with the smartest ownership experience. No other than new HCPI President and General Manager Noriyuki Takakura shared the significant milestone of this best-selling subcompact sedan. “Today, the fourth-generation City already garnered a total of 26,358 vehicle sales, making it as Honda’s best-selling model. And now, we gathered once again to witness the introduction of the redesigned model as the smartest choice for every Filipino and their family,” he said.
What’s captivating from the front end are the renewed front grille and headlights. Aside from the honeycomb design and new polished boarder below, its signature pronounced chrome bar now has additional contours. It even stretched in a form of slim lid above the sharp-looking headlamps, which is now fitted with standard LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL). Likewise, the rear end got enrichment mainly from the redesigned lower bumper panel. Exclusive to the VX+ variant is the LED illuminations on both primary and fog lamps. There are also new sets of rollers across the board—differentiating on design and sizes. While both the VX+ and VX have the same 16-inch diamond cut aluminum alloy rims, the top spec has more spokes for distinction. The base model E, on the other hand, is fitted with 15-inch alloys. Moreover, both VX and VX+ versions have power-folding side mirrors for that added convenience.
When it comes to the interior updates, the cozy and ergonomic dashboard has new metallic trim around the air-conditioning vent and shift lever. Additionally, Gun Metallic panels are now more prominent uttering that sophisticated cabin ambiance—complementing well with the high-tech control panels. Exclusive to the top end model is the plush leather seats that truly highlight the New City’s sporty feel. Even the tiniest detail of improvements provided the gauges and Push/Start button a more premium and elegant touch. As a bonus, both VX+ and VX models are now equipped with the proven convenient feature, the Cruise Control. But the upgrades don’t simply end there. The new City features a new 7-inch touchscreen audio system (for E CVT, VX and VX+ variants). It has Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free telephony and audio streaming, as well as USB terminal. As for VX+ and VX, the infotainment system is integrated with navigation system, voice command, Miracast and Cube User Interface (UI). More so, backing up is now made easy, thanks to the multi-view reverse camera with guidelines.
Proven to be reliable and fuel-efficient, Honda retains the current 1.5-liter i-VTEC SOHC four-cylinder engine to propel the New City. It delivers 118 hp at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of maximum torque at 4,800 rpm mated to the same Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) developed under Earth Dreams Technology. The five-speed manual gearbox, on the other hand, is solely for the base E variant. Honda’s Eco Assist System (ECON button) and eco-coaching ambient meter are still there to promote a smart and fuel-efficient driving habit. And for that sporty driving feel, both VX+ and VX variants are now equipped with paddle shifters.
Known for its uncompromising safety and security elements, the new City further establishes itself as the smartest choice. Reliable safety features, such as G-CON body structure, Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Dual SRS air bags all came in standard but smart entry system is only available to both VX+ and VX models. The top-of-the-line edition VX+ is endowed with additional side and side curtain air bags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS). Just like any other Honda vehicles, genuine Modulo accessories are also available as an option. The new City is now available in all Honda dealerships nationwide with radiant body colors Lunar Silver Metallic (New Color); Gold Brown Metallic (VX+ and VX); Ruby Red Pearl (VX and E CVT); Taffeta White; Modern Steel; and Crystal Black Pearl (VX, E CVT and E MT). Drive with peace of mind
DURING the launch event, HCPI also introduced another interesting offer—the Honda Protect Plus Extended Warranty program. It is a flexible program that provides new car buyers an option to extend their standard warranty for another two years (or 40,000 kilometers, whichever comes first). Taking effect once the initial three-year warranty expires, the additional coverage will give Honda customers superior five-year coverage or 140,000 total mileages, whichever comes first.
One of the program’s major benefits is peace of mind when it comes to unexpected vehicle breakdowns resulting to unwanted expenses within five years of driving your Honda. Moreover, only certified Honda technicians are employed to attend to your precious vehicle, aside from utilizing genuine parts.
The Honda Protect Plus Extended Warranty comes at very affordable prices, starting at P12,300 for the Honda Brio. Should you wish to know more about the new Honda Protect Plus Extended Warranty program, you can visit your nearest Honda Cars dealerships.
