Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has unveiled its 5th generation CR-V, the first ever diesel model in Honda’s local lineup. The all-new CR-V offers a refined, more dynamic alternative to ladder-on-frame pickup based SUVs with its sophisticated styling, improved on-road characteristics and premium interior.

Honda will be offering the CR-V in three 7-seater diesel variants (SX Diesel 9AT AWD, S Diesel 9AT, and V Diesel 9AT) and a 5-seater gasoline variant (2.0S CVT).

Powering the 7-seater variants of the 2018 CR-V is a 1.6-liter DOHC i-DTEC turbo diesel engine developed under Earth Dreams Technology. It produces 120-hp at 4,000 rpm and 300-Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm, mated to a new nine-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The new powertrain is designed for both low and high gear ratios, providing optimum performance around the city or cruising on the highway. Exclusive to the five-seater variant, Honda retains its 2.0-liter SOHC i-VTEC engine which outputs 154-hp at 6,500 rpm and 189-Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm, mated to a new CVT transmission.

The 2018 CR-V’s chassis was engineered from the ground up to improve its agility and handling characteristics. Its wider front and rear track, combined with MacPherson struts up front and multi-link suspension at the rear, contribute to more responsive turn in during corners. During light off-roading, the top-of-the-line SX diesel 9AT AWD variant is able to provide maximum traction, thanks to its enhanced Real Time All-Wheel Drive system, which allows for power and torque to be distributed across all four wheels. Making this variant even more capable off the beaten path is its impressive ground clearance – standing 208mm off the ground.

Revolving around its exterior concept of “Modern Functional Dynamc,” the CR-V features full LED headlights, with a new High Beam Support System available on the SX diesel 9AT AWD variant, allowing for automatic switching from low to high beam during dark driving conditions. The wide muscular fenders, tailgate spoiler, and headlight integrated Guide Type LED Daytime Running Lights give the CR-V its modern dynamic stance. A panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, and auto rain sensing wipers all come standard for the top-of-the-line variant, while 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels are available on SX Diesel 9AT AWD, S diesel 9AT, and 2.0S CVT variants.

Designed to appeal to Filipino families, the CR-V now seats seven passengers. All seven-seater diesel variants feature a 60:40 split second row that slides and reclines, and a 50:50 split reclining third row with its own air-conditioning vents with independent controls. The driver seat of the top-of-the-line SX diesel 9AT AWD is fitted with electronic eight-way power adjustment with four-way power lumbar support, allowing the driver to find the most comfortable driving position easily. With the third-row seats tumbled, the seven-seater diesel variants can accommodate 472liters of cargo space and 967liters of cargo space with both the second and third row tumbled. The 2.0S CVT variant on the other hand can comfortably accommodate five passengers with 522Liters of cargo space behind the rear seats.

Honda considers driver and passenger safety as a top priority, and it shows with the CR-V’s extensive safety package. Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold, Agile Handling Assist (AHA), Driver Attention Monitor, Driver and Passenger Airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Multi-View Reverse Camera with Dynamic Guidelines, and Low Tire Pressure Warning system come standard across the line. Additional features such as a Honda LaneWatch camera, side airbags, curtain airbags, and a Walk Away Auto Lock feature are standard on the SX Diesel, S Diesel and 2.0 S variants. Adding even more safety features to the mix, the top-of-the-line SX Diesel variant will receive Honda SENSING Technology: a safety suite that includes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Low Speed Follow (LSF), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and Lane Departure Warning (LDW).

All 36 Honda Car Dealerships are currently accepting reservations for the all-new CR-V. The five-seater gasoline variant is readily available nationwide while deliveries for the seven-seater diesel variants will start by end of September 2017. The all-new CR-V comes in the following colors: Passion Red Pearl (new for the SX Diesel 9AT AWD and S Diesel 9AT only); Lunar Silver Metallic (SX Diesel 9AT AWD and S Diesel 9AT only); Dark Olive Metallic (new for all variants); White Orchid Pearl (plus P20,000 for all variants); Modern Steel Metallic (all variants); and Crystal Black Pearl (all variants).
