BROADCAST leader GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) took home a total of 13 recognitions at the 39th Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) for its various programs and special features that promote good values through television and radio.

GMA 7’s top-rating weekly family sitcom “Pepito Manaloto” was elevated this year to the Hall of Fame for Best Comedy Program. Bannered by multi-awarded comedian Michael V., “Pepito Manaloto” also won in the said category in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2016.

The country’s most-awarded news magazine program “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” was named the Best News Magazine Program this year. Hosted by GMA News pillar and Peabody-awardee Jessica Soho, “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” remains the most-watched show on its time block.

Receiving another accolade for GMA is multi-awarded investigative program “Reporter’s Notebook” which took home the Best Public Service Program trophy.

“Eleksyon 2016”, GMA Network’s special coverage of the 2016 national elections, won the Best Special Event Coverage. Led by GMA News pillars Mel Tiangco, Mike Enriquez, Vicky Morales, Arnold Clavio, Howie Severino, and Jessica Soho, “Eleksyon 2016” delivered the most in-depth coverage of the national elections. GMA Network was the first television news organization to broadcast the partial and unofficial results tally.

Meanwhile, “Kerygma TV”, which GMA-7 co-produced, won as the Best TV Special.

Several programs of leading local news channel GMA News TV also emerged as winners this year. “Tonight with Arnold Clavio” took home the Best Talk Show award while travel and adventure program “Biyahe ni Drew” won the Best Adult Educational/Cultural Program award.

Earning special citations as well were GMA-7’s “Maynila” (Drama Series/Program category); science and infotainment “AHA!” (Children and Youth Program category); and GMA News TV programs “Brigada” and “I Juander” (News Magazine category).

Programs of GMA’s flagship AM radio station DZBB also received special awards. “Super Balita sa Tanghali, Nationwide” took home the special citation in the News Program category while “Saksi sa Dobol B” earned a special citation in the News Commentary category.
