May 18, 2017 – AIDA Cruises, a member of the Costa Group, in partnership with Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC), conducted an all-exclusive interview session to former children of SOS Children’s Villages in the Philippines to offer unique seagoing career opportunities.
SOS Children’s Villages representative, Noemi Encinares stated that it is a non-government organization aiming to provide the necessities of abandoned and orphaned children until formal college education and enabling them to live independent lives. Since 2005, AIDA Cruises has been a benefactor to various SOS Children’s Villages around the globe. Together with its onboard passengers and guests, AIDA Cruises has donated more than 1 Million Euro to support the social development organization.
One of the successful candidates was Nancy Alalad from SOS Children’s Village in Cebu who was overwhelmed when she was accepted today as an F&B Assistant Steward. Being the youngest among 17 children, who lost their father early due to illness, she was very grateful to have received shelter by the SOS family. With the support of the institution, she finished a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, and was able to prove herself working in the Middle East as a Waitress for more than four years.
Imke Mecke, AIDA’s Senior Recruitment Manager Fleet, spearheaded the interviews of the applicants who had completed hospitality-related courses. Furthermore, a presentation was facilitated during the event highlighting AIDA Cruises as Germany’s Top Employer Awardee. More than 3,000 Filipino seagoing professionals are currently deployed by MMC aboard the 12 AIDA vessels.
