The Adamson Pep Squad is adamant that it will continue to wow the crowd in the upcoming UAAP 80 Cheerdance Competition

It has been over a year since the Adamson Pep Squad put on a performance well worthy of a podium finish in the UAAP Cheerdance Competition.

Perhaps even a second-place finish – rather than the third-place they were awarded.

Just like a season ago, however, the San Marcelino-based squad said they are nothing but happy with their ranking. “Entering the (top three) again after 15 winless years is already an achievement,” head coach Jeremy Lorenzo.

Last year, taking the stage after the famed UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe and the FEU Cheering Squad, Adamson Pep was a pleasant surprise for just about everybody with their water-themed routine opening up eyes and mouths alike.

In the end, their pleasant surprise proved to be more than enough for third-place with 655 points. They were merely 3.5 points behind second-placer FEU – meaning if they only had four points more, they would have matched the school’s best finish in the history of the event.

Even then, though, they weren’t sweating what could have been. “’Di naman kami disappointed. The fact na nanalo kami, sobrang saya namin,” then team captain Carlo Espelita said.

Now, the Falcons are plotting to keep soaring – even for greater heights, if possible. “Maintaining that will always be the challenge,” Lorenzo said.

To do just that, they are going to up the ante for this year’s competition. As their mentor put it, “What you’ll witness is a big leap from last year’s routine.”

While nothing is certain – especially with the NU Pep Squad trying for a record-tying five-peat, the UP Pep Squad out to make a memorable return, and UST and FEU still around – Adamson Pep is just out to perfect their performance. “The goal is to pull off a clean and flawless routine,” Lorenzo said.

And for the Adamson faithful, their Pep Squad has but one promise. “We will win hearts and trophies,” the head coach expressed.
