The administration of the Manila North Cemetery (MNC) will be fielding 100 e-trikes that will give free rides to those who will go to the MNC to visit their loved ones this “Undas.”
This was disclosed by MNC Director Daniel Tan, who noted that it will be the first time that free rides will be given at that the city-owned, 54-hectare cemetery.
Tan said that the local government will be fielding 100 e-trikes that will circle the cemetery, which is believed to house more than a million graves, to ferry cemetery goers on All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
The e-trikes can accommodate up to eight people, and will be able to ferry passengers to and from the cemetery’s different gates.
An estimated 1.5 million are expected to troop to the MNC on November 1 and 2.
Meanwhile, the MNC management has already tightened its security measures.
Tan noted that there were still persons trying to bring in prohibited item like loud speakers, sharp objects, and alcoholic drinks.
As such, he reiterated their call for those who will go to the MNC to avoid bringing any of these materials to avoid any inconvenience.
The police have also warned car owners that their vehicles will no longer be allowed to enter the cemetery. Even police cars will be prohibited from entering the MNC grounds.
