Everything has come together for Jennylyn Mercado who is now enjoying time with the most important men in her life

Jennylyn Mercado is grateful to have reconnected with her biological father, Noli Pineda, who was based in South Korea.

In a recent interview, the actress recalled she personally asked her father to go back to the Philippines with her.

“Kinausap ko siya kasi ang hirap naman na mag-isa na lang dito at wala na akong kasama,” she said. “Ang hirap talaga na mag-isa ka lang tapos lumalaki si Jazz (her son with Patrick Garcia) na lagi wala ako sa bahay at nasa trabaho.”

Jennylyn’s adoptive mother, Lydia Mercado, passed away October last year.

Jennylyn admitted she felt the need to ask Noli’s help in looking after her son.

“Hindi ako makampante eh,” she said.

Since moving in with her last month, Jennylyn said she and Noli have established good bond.

“Madali naman kasi siyang pakisamahan,” she shared. “’Yung father ko napakabait kaya walang awkward moment o ano pa man. Masaya kami, komportable kaming magkasama. Hindi kami nai-ilang.”

The actress added Noli and her son get along really well.

“Okay naman sila, masaya kasi nakakapag-bond kami kahit papa’no,” she maintained.

For the 30-year-old actress, motherhood is easier with her father around.

“Hindi na ako masyadong nag-aalala kay Jazz kasi at least hindi na puro kasambahay lang kasama namin, may kapamilya na talaga,” she explained.

Jennylyn revealed her father is into music.

“Sabi ko nga sa kanya pwede niya ituloy anytime na gustuhin niya,” she said. “’Pag nga nasa bahay, ’pag tumunog ’yung piano, alam kong siya na ’yun, ganu’n siya ka-in love sa music.”

How about acting, we teased.

“Nako ’wag na. Hindi na pwede,” Jennylyn said in jest.

On boyfriend, projects

Though still evasive discussing her relationship with Dennis Trillo, Jennylyn admitted love is indeed sweeter the second time around.

“Mas magaan, mas matured ’yung relationship namin ngayon.”

After being together for a year, the Kapuso couple broke up in 2011. They rekindled their romance last year.

Jennylyn shared that what happened in their past taught them a thing or two about being relationship.

“Natutunan namin na ’yung hindi na dapat gawin, ’wag ng gawin,” she said. “Tumatanda na kami so dapat mas careful na kami sa mga decisions namin.”

The actress-singer also shared Dennis has established a good relationship with her father.

“Mahilig si Papa sa music so nag-jamming-jamming lang sila, nagkasundo sila,” she shared.

Does this mean marriage is in the offing, we asked.

“Hindi pa naman. Wala pa naman kaming napag-uusapan na ganu’n,” the actress said, also dismissing the rumors that she and Dennis are already engaged.

If anything, Jennylyn hopes Dennis is ultimately her “destiny.”

“Though siyempre hindi ko din masasabi agad pero sana,” she enthused.

Just like Dennis, work is Jennylyn’s utmost priority right now.

The actress is set to appear in the upcoming Philippine adaptation of “My Love From The Star,” alongside newbie actor Gil Cuerva.

She has good words for Gil.

“Okay siya, nakikita ko ’yung enthusiasm and passion n’ya sa acting,” she said. “Though hindi pa kami ganon ka-close, kasi nasa getting-to-know stage pa din kami, nakikita ko na magiging maganda ’yung samahan lalo na magkasama kami lagi sa shooting.”

So what did she advise the newbie?

“Na ’wag lang siguro siyang ma-pressure ng sobra kumbaga enjoy lang,” she related.

As for her other projects, Jennylyn shared she is also gearing up for the release of a film helmed by awarded director Erik Matti.

Jennylyn disclosed she is set do another film for submission to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
Though she was reluctant to share details, the actress hinted it will be a rom-com.

“Si Jericho (Rosales) ulit ang leading man,” she said.

The two previously worked on the 2015 MMFF Best Picture film “#Walang Forever.” (With report from Jojo P. Panaligan)
