FAIR PLAY. Ron Dennison played one of the best games of his career while half of the arena was booing him.
Ron Dennison is not a dirty player.
That is, if he is to be believed that rather, is just a physical player.
And as if proving he can back up his claims with actions, Dennison was not involved in anything “dirty” or even just physical when he and Far Eastern University took on new day rival De La Salle University last Sunday.
In fact, the graduating guard was only called for two personal fouls – and didn’t even come close to incurring any unsportsmanlike or technical fouls.
For Dennison, it was all about making a point. “Pinakita ko sa kanila na kaya kong maglaro nang malinis. Nakita naman nila siguro yun,” he shared.
Along with staying away from unnecessary physicality, the Cebuano also turned in one of is finer offensive performances ever as he wound up with 21 points on 71 percent shooting on top of seven rebounds and four assists.
And he did all that in front of a crowd which had half booing him mercilessly. Asked about the “love” he received from the Green Archers’ fans, he answered, “Binu-boo pala ako? Hindi ko naririnig e.”
Turning serious, he then said, “Ayun, dagdag motivation. Alam ko naman yun na lahat ng tao, lalo na La Salle, against sa akin kaya naglaro lang talaga ako.”
And while his standout performance eventually ended up in a loss, Dennison said he and his teammates won’t be crying over spilled milk. “Nakita pa rin naman naming kaya pa rin namin. Ayun lang, na-late lang talaga (yung yun namin),” he shared.
He then continued, “Move on na kami dun. Tapos na yung La Salle, onto the next game na kami.”
