K-pop boy band EXO and Big Bang have been included in the 2018 edition of Guinness World Records book.
Guinness World Records cited the idol groups’ achievements in having the “most daesang awards won at the Mnet Asian Music Awards.”
EXO won their fifth daesang, or grand prize, at the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards when they won Album of the Year for “Ex’Act,” their fourth consecutive award in the category since 2013. They also won the daesang for Artist of the Year in 2014.
Guinness World Records said with the feat, they tied the record of Big Bang, which won five daesang consisting of three Artist of the Year in 2008, 2012 and 2015; and Song of the Year in 2007 for “Lies” and 2015 for “Bang Bang Bang.”
In Korea, EXO recently made another record when their new album “The War” sold more than one million copies.
“The War” breached the one million mark in sales on August 11 or 24 days after the album was released on July 19.
It became their fourth album to sell one million copies after “XOXO” in 2013, “Exodus” in 2015 and “Ex’Act” last year, earning them the title “quadruple million seller.”
EXO will be releasing the repackaged album “The War: The Power of Music” on September 5 containing 12 songs including three new tracks.
