“I CALLED GAME.” Marcio Lassiter gets mobbed by teammates after he banked the game-winning three over Star in Game 3 of the Commissioner’s Cup semifinals.
Debate all you want on whether or not Marcio Lassiter called bank, one thing is for sure.
His game-winning three against Star in Game 3 of their 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinal series Wednesday was no fluke.
Lassiter’s cold-blooded trey to bury the Hotshots was eerily similar to the one he was against Rain or Shine last year in Game 2 of the 2016 PBA Commissioner’s Cup semis.
The only problem was that shot didn’t count. This time, it did.
And it was not a fluke regardless if he called bank or not.
“You know, it was kinda cool to be in that moment and I don’t know if you guys remember, last year I also had a buzzer beater so this is not like a fluke shot,” Lassiter said.
“I’m just kinda glad that this one went in and it just seems like God blessed me today,” he added.
Head coach Leo Austria literally called Lassiter’s shot as something like Golden State’s Steph Curry would do. And with Marcio being a big Warriors fan, he agrees with his coach.
Well, sort of.
“Maybe because we’re watching a lot of Warriors lately,” he said.
“Honestly, it was just a great [shot]. I looked up and I saw we had about six seconds left so I knew I had some time to kind of get up for a shot. I was just creating enough separation to get a good shot off,” Lassiter added.
As for whether or not Lassiter called bank for his game winner, he swears he did.
“I called game,” he said with a laugh.
“Nah. Of course everyone heard it, I called bank. Yeah, I meant to do that,” Lassiter added with just a little bit of sarcasm.
