Presidential adviser on the peace process Jesus Dureza said the President met with top Congress leaders as well as officials of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) central committee and Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) in Malacañang to reassure them of his commitment to “husband the approval of BBL until its implementation.”

Present in the meeting were Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III and Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.

“It was a warm meeting where the President expressed a game plan that is still being worked out by the Office of the President in coordination of course with the leadership of Congress on how to see to it that the BBL that has been proposed will see its implementation by a law,” Dureza said during the 24th anniversary of the Office of the Presidential Peace Adviser (OPAPP) in Malacañang.

“He really has to nurture na talagang papasa yan. Kasi pag pakawalan yan, certify mo yan, pagdating doon, may mga question pa yun bang mga members of Congress dahil may constitutional issues pa yan [He really has to nurture it to ensure its passage. If you just let it go and certify it, some members of Congress may still have questions because there are constitutional issues there], ” he added.

Dureza said the BBL game plan will be “some kind of a road map” that will be presented by the President to the MILF and the BTC. He said the Present wanted to show them that he is “true to his commitment to husband the BBL to its logical conclusion.”
