President Duterte has issued the ad interim appointments of four Cabinet members who have yet to receive the nod of the Commission on Appointments (CA).
Reappointed were Social Welfare Secretary Judy Taguiwalo, Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial, Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael Mariano, and Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu.
The appointment papers were signed by the President last June 1 but were released by the Palace on Tuesday.
The bicameral CA earlier bypassed Taguiwalo, Ubial and Mariano after deciding not to hold hearings on their appointments due to lack of time. Cimatu, appointed to the DENR last May, has yet to face the CA hearing.
Congress adjourned last month and will resume session when the President delivers his State-of- the-Nation Address (SONA) on July 24.
The Palace also announced other new government appointments in the financial sector.
Nestor Espenilla Jr. has been appointed governor of Bangko Central ng Pilipinas (BSP) for a term expiring July 2, 2023. Espenilla who assumed his post on Tuesday took over the well-respected Amando Tetangco Jr. who served as BSP governor for two terms.
The new members of the Monetary Board are Antonio Abacan Jr., Felipe Medalla, and Peter Favila.
Other appointees are Erwin Enad as member of the Career Executive Service Board, Robert Tan as member of the Al-Almanah Islamic Investment Bank of the Philippines board, Sarah Arriola and Jose Luis Montales as undersecretaries of the Department of Foreign Affairs, and Abdulgani Macatoman as assistant secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry.
