THE Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-6) distributed 814 patents to landless beneficiaries in Western Visayas from January to May 2017 through its Handog Titulo Program.

Of the 814 patents, 772 are agricultural patents with 637.54719 hectare and 42 are residential patents with .8561 hectare. The total land area covered by patents is 638.40329 hectares or 6,384,032.90 sq. meters.

The total guesstimate value stands at P292,360,055.75, with agricultural patents valued at P270,957,555.75 and residential patents at P21,402,500.  The value is based on the 2012 zonal valuation of real properties.

“We at the DENR never stopped working hard to grant rightful beneficiaries their much-deserved land titles or patents. Those who have received their titles must remember that land ownership has a social responsibility. Use it to advance your family’s needs,” said DENR 6 Regional Director Jim O Sampulna.

Among the provinces, Guimaras posted the biggest number of patents issued through the Handog Titulo Program, with 507 agricultural patents covering 385.2051 hectares. The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) in Guimaras distributed the patents along with 22 school site patents on May 16, 2017. No less than DENR Undersecretary for Administration, Finance and Management Demetrio L. Ignacio, Jr. graced the event.

“This is now your ticket to security of tenure. Take good care of your land and be responsible land owners,” Ignacio told the beneficiaries.

PENRO Capiz posted the second highest land patent distribution for the quarter at 173 agricultural patents covering 185.75319 hectares or 1,857,531.9 sq. m. They were followed by PENRO Iloilo with 52 agricultural patents and 42 residential patents, covering 23.6771 ha. and .8561 ha., respectively. Meanwhile, PENRO Aklan distributed 40 agricultural land patents with an area of 42.9118 ha. (DENR6)
