Australia is known for the best lamb and steak products and the freshest seafood. Wonder no more. Australian agriculture is a major global producer and supply an abundance of fresh produce for both the local and international market. Stock grazing (mostly sheep and cattle) are prevalent throughout the continent. Moreover, Australia’s 11 million square kilometer fishing zone, the third largest in the world, allows for bountiful access to seafood which significantly influences Australian cuisine.
That’s why many Filipinos dream of going Down Under to experience the good life which Australia offers. Wander no more. Australia’s awesome food and drinks are here at Skippy’s Gastro Pub.
“Actually, we have been here at the heart of BGC (Bonifacio Global City) for four years now. We have witnessed the development of this side of the Philippines since day one we were here,” said Skippy’s Gastro Pub owner Stephen Bird.
Fronting Skippy’s (located at the Forum at Federacion Drive) is the imposing MayBank Performing Arts Theater which used to be a vacant lot according to Bird. On the right side, across Skippy’s, there used to be a mini airport.
Bird has chosen to live in the Philippines when he married his Filipina wife, Tina. Although an IT-expert which he is still is, Bird has also decided to bring the best of Australian cuisine in the Philippines and his many food adventures around the world through Skippy’s. Lovely wife Tina also devotes much of her time personally tending to their store.
The result of husband and wife passion for food and dedication for service is Australia’s best and relaxing food and beverage hub at The Fort – a sporty restaurant (complete with billiards table and HD screens to capture local and international sporting events: rugby, cricket, football/soccer, basketball, etc.) with music and live bands.
Skippy’s features the best local rock bands on Friday night so everyone can rock out! Saturdays is slowed down a bit for a more relaxed vibe with the best popular bands from around the Philippines. Check out Skippy’s Events Page and see who’s playing next!
Skippy’s also serve Filipino food. And No. 1 among its long-time and growing clientele both local and the expats is the all-time favorite Sisig. But for the best taste of Australia, you may opt for Skippy’s Bourbon Ribs, lovingly prepared by Stephen himself for a total of eight hours. According to Bird, it’s a secret recipe which he has perfected for years. On tasting the ribs, you can immediately notice the smokey charcoal aroma of the sauce (make sure you spread the sauce residue from the plate before eating) which works well with the surprisingly tender meat. If you’re a rib fan, we are happy to share that the Bourbon wasn’t too overpowering in terms of flavor, but just right. Their bourbon ribs were slow-cooked Aussie style and served with homemade barbecue bourbon sauce served with steamed vegetables and a side of fries. Available at 300 grams, 800 grams, 600 grams and 1,400 grams. Other menus worth tasting are the following:
SEAFOOD PLATTER (EBI FRY, CALAMARI, BAKED MUSSEL WITH FRIES)
FRIES OVERLOAD (FRIES, HOUSEMADE CHILI CON CARNE, MEXICAN SALSA, GARLIC CILANTRO DRESSING)

Another must try is the chicken wings specialty called Diablo Wings. Taste it to believe. It’s far better than the ones we have tried in Korean Chicken restaurants. What’s more? They’re perfect combination with some of the alcohol drinks available here at Skippy’s.
We also recommend you take advantage of their promo. From Monday to Wednesday from 11:00 am to 2:00 am, one can order minimum 15 pieces of these yummy fried Diablo wings with beer for just Php 10.00 per piece. The chicken is very tasty and very similar in taste and comparable to a well-known restaurant which specializes on buffalo wings or Korean chicken.
Skippy’s unlimited margarita is a sure a winner. A group of 5 can enjoy one huge serving. If you feel like swimming in a pool of margarita, order this; it will satisfy your thirst for alcohol and get a great sleep as a bonus.
Definitely, Skippy’s take its food, service and sports seriously for a great piece of the Down Under!
