“Ive been playing basketball for almost half of my life, so I thought it would be a great opportunity to do this for the UAAP,”
With a new UAAP season comes new beginnings, new stories, and of course, new faces.
Those new faces include this season’s batch of new courtside reporters who have been given the opportunity to serve as the link between their respective schools and the fans.
This UAAP Season 80, we welcome on board eight new courtside reporters who will be patrolling the sidelines and getting the latest scoop on your favorite UAAP teams!
Ready to run with the University of the East Red Warriors is Migs Gomez!
The 20-year old Electrical Engineering major from University of the Philippines says that he’s been playing nearly half his life, and sees the role of a courtside reporter as a way to fulfill a longtime dream.
“It’s been my dream to write and speak about basketball.” says Migs. “I’ve been playing basketball for almost half of my life, so I thought it would be a great opportunity to do this for the UAAP, and of course para sa bansa nating Pilipinas.”
And much like his good friend Dyp, who’ll be patrolling the sidelines for National University, Migs will be reporting for a different university.
“Syempre may mixed feelings na kasama diyan, pero every opportunity naman is a blessing, so kaming dalawa ni Dyp, game na game kami. Challenge accepted yun.”
With his hoops background, Migs says that he can bring a more technical and stats-based report, while still being able to keep fans and the UE faithful in the loop with regards to the lighter side of their favorite players.
“Siguro yung iba lang sa akin, the way I report kasi, siguro I can put in more basketball knowledge, and then at the same time I try to get to know the players a bit more, so if I can share to you more information, or more about the fun part of their lives, I’ll do that.”
